Cameron, 12, Osteogenic Sarcoma
Cameron
While undergoing treatment for osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer), animal lover Cameron often found comfort at a nearby pet store. He could spend hours there, watching the snakes, bearded dragons, and other fascinating creatures that brought him peace during such a challenging period.
Raised in a pet-filled home, Cameron developed a deep love and respect for animals early on. Being away from his pets during treatment only strengthened his passion for animal care and inspired his heartfelt wish 'to become a zoo vet for a day'.
Thanks to the Wishmaker campaign, Cameron was treated to a fully personalised day at the zoo! His experience included hands-on time with reptiles, preparing meals for Cotton Top Tamarins, and exploring the zoo’s wildlife hospital—where he witnessed veterinary care firsthand. It was an unforgettable day of discovery for Cameron and his family.
“This experience has been specifically designed for Cameron, his interests, and it's just going to stay with him forever. It’s something really special he got to share with his family. It was amazing. Really, really amazing,” said Cameron’s mum, Marie.
